The Kokopeli figure is produced in imitation of ancient petroglyphs (rock carvings) found in the American southwest and dating from 200 A.D. to the sixteenth century. The name of the mystical flute player, Kokopeli, is believed derived from the Hopi and Zuni names for God (Koko). He is said to promote fertility, cause bountiful harvests, and bring good luck.
